SHO limited to 5500 RPM's - Broken SC Clutch, Or?

Was out riding today & lost power. Runs fine otherwise, just only up to 5500 rpm's. Also can't hear the SC while running. Only 35 hours with stock boost, so would be surprised to have lost the clutch..

Did the spin test & It only does only spin one way (which I know is still possible with a broken clutch). Kind of doubt it, but could there be any other possible RPM limiting issue. Have no codes, new air filter etc.. Just wanted to check, before pulling the SC.

    Thanks

    Clutch or boost leak
    Check the boost hoses first
I have made the mistake of changing the clutch as I was on 80 hours and all my mates had blown clutches at 40 hours
After changing it I found out it was boost leak
    Boy did I feel stupid

Yeah, could be a blown hose after the SC somewhere. I had same issue at one of the races happen and found a hose that came off. I thought I had blown the clutch or shaft. Does it sound like a cricket when the ski is running? Can you hear it free spin when you shut the ski off? When I just blew my last clutch it free spun both ways and I could only rev to 6000 rpm.

I personally wont wave jump these skis or my SeaDoo when I had it, the engines are just way to heavy for that kind of abuse.

GH saves the day again!!! Was so bummed about possibly having a clutch issue, that I did not take the 2 sec to check for the obvious. I had only checked the SC for some 2 way action. Just got home & went out to find the stock lower IC boot had blown off. So I got off easy on this one Thanks for the help guys!

I know is is not smart to be out jumping a couch, but I have always been straight up addicted to jumping. So I am just going to try & do what I can with all the clamps, an aftermarket IC & motor mounts. And try not to sink my Battleship! Just for grins I will test ride a Spark at the upcoming Riva ride days & maybe that one can be officially used to get my jumping fix. And to help & keep my SHO intact..
    Awesome! Glad to hear!
Not sure what hose clamps you have, but check this site out! They have the really good ABA clamps. They are solid clamps so they dont break. They also have the rolled up edge so you dont cut into the hose. http://shop.marshfasteners.com/produ...0&pagenumber=2

You can find a nice GP1300R for about $3,000 now. Those are some wave jumping skis and readily available now.
There is a nice one for $2,700. I'll send you the info.

It was just the OEM clamp & could have been loose from the factory. But thanks for the link - I will be sure to have EVERY clamp replaced, when I get the cooling & build done soon! You still da man on the SHO tip

That GP1300r is a smoking deal & I bet it will move quickly..

    Wayne,

Glad it wasn't the clutch. Let's go out soon.

Considering the wave abuse it gets, and my old 2 stroke habit of rev/clearing the water box until recently learning otherwise - I still think it has held up reasonably well.

Glad it was simple. But from the sounds of things here you are flirting with a busted clutch someday soon! If you are riding aggressively in big waves / surf (hooking, unhooking, hooking, unhooking, etc etc) you may be better off on the HO. The SHO Superchargers don't like being beaten like rented mules in rough water. JB

I found on my SHO that the clamps were a bit loose from the factory, so I've made checking them a regulate maintenance practice.
