Fuel issue with 2006 Kawasaki STX12F

I am having a couple problems and am hoping somebody has had this problem before. I have to hit the start button repeatedly to get the jet ski to start. I only hit it for a few seconds each time and then finally it will go. If I go somewhere and it only sits for about 5 minutes it will start right away but if it's more than 15 or 20 minutes I have to repeat this or spray starting fluid to get it to start. I believe it's a fuel issue because if I spray the starting fluid the ski will start. Does anyone know if this fuel pump has a check valve in it?

Also the ski idles too fast. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks

Go to lasportsmans or smokyseven's sticky in Kawasaki performance section of this forum. That should point you in the right direction. Welcome to Green Hulk.

Oops! I sent you to the wrong site. Smokey's sticky on the STX12F's is in the Kawasaki Tech Tips and Info section. Hope that helps.

DO NOT USE STARTER FLUID, IT IS DANGEROUS IN A CLOSED HULL AND CAN EXPLODE SHOOTING YOU OFF THE SEAT.

First things first, follow my guide. What rpms does the ski idle at?

Ok about the starter fluid, won't do that again. Sean I am running about 2000 rpms idle. It sounds like I need a new fuel pump.

Diagnose the issue properly or you are just throwing money at a problem. It doesn't necessarily sound like a fuel pump......not yet, anyway.
