    Ultra 130 D.I - Issue

    Hello!

I have a 2002 Ultra 130 ski that I have had for 2 years. I am getting ready to sell it but want to enjoy it a couple more times before I do. The ski has been sitting for 8 months in my garage, i didnt winterize it I just took out the battery and it only had a lil fuel. Today i put a new battery and fuel and took it to the ocean and water started getting to the hull (not completely full but too much water.) I then emptied the water back on the trailer and replaced the spark plug boots. The mechanic said it was fine. Took it back to the water and the hull started filling again. I dont know what to do he took off the rubber drain plug seals so it would close but idk , he also said it could be the $15 flush kit thats letting water in.

    what can i do?

Strap it down to the trailer front and rear. Back it down the launch ramp until the jet pump intake is submerged.

Now you can run it with the seat off while still on the trailer and see where the water is coming in.

You can run the engine and even apply throttle. Make sure there is no debris or loose rocks under the jet pump intake area.

Take it to the launch ramp and back it in strapped to the trailer. Start the engine and look inside for the leak.

or put a little water inside and see where it comes out
you can do this while on the trailer at home
    I suspect the shaft seal

That method can work, if the leak is somewhere in the lower hull.

Easy test to do, of course. Just don't put so much water inside the hull that it causes problems or gets into the engine

If the water is coming into the hull via an engine cooling hose or elsewhere higher in the hull then the water leaking out test will not reveal it.

Leaks either the thru hull fitting for the drive shaft. Or your drive shaft carrier bearing is leaking. Very common

I had one of those skis back in 2006. The OEM flush hose does not have a check valve in it. Absolutely insane if you ask me. If the cap is lose, off, or leaks, youll fill up your hull.
I remember flushing it and forgetting to put the cap back on and then taking it to the water and sinking it more than once.
If that's leaking youll be able to spot it easily by riding it around close to shore with the seat off

ahh yea I thought that was a dumb idea myself with no check valve so I got OCD about checking the hose washer and the cap.
