Removing Carbs on 1994 SL 650 Fuji engine

Trying to rebuild the carbs on my 93 [actually, it is a 1994] SL 650, but I'm having problems getting them out of the ski!

There are like 3 bolts that are impossible to get to.
Is there an easy way to do this?

Not impossible. Work on the Exhaust side of the ski reaching over the motor to get under the carbs. 12mm box end stubby style wrench makes it easiest. Remove fuel lines to give more working area....

I got it! Didn't realize there were bolts on the bottom. Took those off and it lifted right off! Thanks!

When taking apart the carb, those 2 screws holding down the fuel manifold plate are extremely tight and I'm scared I'm going to strip them..suggestions?

    Which uses a hammer (really).

    Different from an impact wrench

Well I got an impact driver and this is what happened...stripped the screws. So am I now screwed? What exactly is under that needs replacing/cleaned and can I get by without doing it?

A second question I have, what is the most important part to change/clean in a carb? Just so I can better understand

The jets are under that piece. The carbs should be rebuilt with genuine Mikuni parts. The rebuild kit will include needles and seats, springs, and a few other miscellaneous parts.

Get a screw extractor to remove the stripped screws. You should really check your jet sizing while you are in there.
