Yamaha suv intermediate shaft getting hot

Ok so today i finally got the suv back in the water after rebuilding engine, jet pump, resealing transom, pump plug kit, carbs, and intermediate housing. I rode ski for a bit then took a look under the hood everything looked good except for some water (cold) thought the small leak would be fixed so I started feeling around the intermediate shaft to see if the leak was coming from that area but notice the shaft was rather warm. Actually almost hot. Is it supposed to heat up? Anyone ever experience this? Feeling a bit defeated after this rebuild.

The only thing I can think of is I didn't pump grease through the zerk fitting but I did fill up the the housing with grease before installing the seals on the intermediate housing. However it is a sealed bearing in there so don't know if that would make a difference. Please help

When running, the intermediate shafts get quite warm. I grease mine a pump or two every couple rides.

anything that has friction , will become a heat generator. it's pretty normal.
