2000 slx 1200 Go fast mods?

So I've got my slx running well.... Now how do I make it faster Two of my friends I ride with also have bone stock SLX 1200s. Someone has to be the fastest and I want it to be me. Any suggestions on what mods to get and where to even find the parts. I would like to keep the motor as stable as possible but looking to add a few HP with simple bolts ons and such.

I ride on a smaller lake that doesnt really get too choppy. I still like to jump though. I guess I should specify I'm more interested in getting to 60mph very fast than I am going 70mph. So quickness over speed is what I want.

Reeds will help. Maybe some 91 octane cylinder heads. Get a set of ported cylinders. That would get you what you are looking for.

So Bryan since I have stock heads currently should only be running 87 octane on this ski?

I have run 87 ethanol free in my stock motors. If you are using ethanol fuel I would use minimum 89. I run 91 ethanol free in all of my stuff.

no reason you can not run 87 Octane, but if that fuel has Ethanol in it, try to stay away from it, my gas stations locally dont stock 87 octane free, so i run 91 or even 93 octane free.

Polaris service manual recommends 89 octane for stock engines if the fuel has oxidizers which I take to include ethanol blended gasoline.

Since non-ethanol 87 octane straight gasoline is becoming a rare thing, my general recommendation is 89 minimum octane.

we run and have run 87 fuel with ethanol in all our stock skis since since 1996 and have never had a carb problem or a piston lose while using it so I don't see where everyone thinks the fuel is bad for your ski ??? we have ski's bought new in 97 that have never had there carbs pulled or opened up just my opinion and facts about running fuel with ethanol

hell for yrs Mick rode his pro 785 on 87 ethanol and that ski turned 8000 rpms and never lost a piston or had to go through the carbs
