I am looking at buying a 1999 Yamaha exciter 270 and wanted to get some info. I am getting a CRAZY deal on the boat and needed some piece of mind. I have accepted that the motors could be shot but for the price I am ok with rebuilding them or replacing. So i am going to look at the boat and the owner stated Has been sitting for 2 years and will need to be serviced before cranking or taking out on the water. He was in the processes of changing a starter and said it would need a starter battery and servicing before starting but will run fine. I had planned on doing a full over haul anyway for safety sake but i wanna find out if the motor is locked up or piston bent. I have a bore scope i am going to bring with me. I wanted to know if there is a way to crank the motor manually with it installed so I can see if it is seized or rod bent etc. Any input?
