Rock jammed impeller - what to do next?

This is my first PWC. Only about 1 hour into my first ride... we were shore hopping in a very rocky area. Long story short, jammed the impeller with a rock and had to limp Sparky about 5 miles back to the dock. Removed the rock when once on the trailer and did not take it out for another ride. Have not yet removed and inspected anything, but from what I can see, the impeller looks fine.

From what I've read so far, sounds like it'd be a good idea to get a new wear ring? I did notice some plastic had scraped off because there was some stuck to the rock.

Could something else have been damaged?

Furthermore, if it turns out I should get a new impeller and wear ring, can I get aftermarket performance ones and leave it at that, or do I need to tune the machine? I'd like to just get a new aftermarket impeller and wear ring, and just put the thing back in the water.

Thanks for all the help. And yes, I know I was being stupid and I have learned my lesson! I hope to never again be a disgrace to PWC owners

I would change angel to the oem plastic wear ring to further protect your impeller, if the impeller looks fine hopefully you don't have to repair it.

does anyone have a link on how to remove and replace wear ring and impeller?

just spend a little more money and install the stainless wear ring from this site
    http://www.4-tecperformance.com/inde...ath=18_214_227

Tip don't start or run any ski in less 500MM of water or 12 inch's of water so you don't suck up crap

12 inches?? we all know pwc require minimal water, but a foot is not nearly enough. Just because the bottom is 12 inches below, doesn't mean a rock or coral head isn't nearby for you to hit.

You want between knee high and thigh high water to safely take off in. Otherwise you are risking rocks getting sucked up. Ive taken off in less in a pinch, but its dangerous and risky.

    Thanks, guys

So could there be any other damage I should be concerned about?

would this be covered under warranty?

If they know you sucked up a rock, not covered under warranty, though could be covered under insurance maybe?

If they don't know you sucked up a rock and think it was a manufacturer defect? Than might be covered depending on what the problem is.

Yeah when sucking anything up there can always be more damage than just the wear ring. Ask me how I know.
