2013 VX Playful?
Living on the lake here, my son just wants to go out and spin circles and jump his waves. Bought a couple Ultras a few months ago but it was a waste of gas. He just wants to get wet and do a little wave jumping and I just want to spend as little as possible on fuel. So, my question is that I don't need the best wave jumping ski but want something kinda playful. Does the VX have enough jump out of the hole for a kid to be able to do this? I also have too many other interests and don't want to worry about reliability, that's why I'm leaning toward a VX. How dependable are the older (2000-2006) 2 strokes.
I like the 4 strokes over the 2 but also considering an older GP800, 1200 or something like that. He's actually my step son and I don't want to be responsible for him getting hurt so leaning toward a slower ski like the VX, maybe a Kawi STX 15. Any suggestions. I personally like cruising so when summer hits we'll be out on the Sound a bit and some of the larger reservoirs in Eastern WA. Need a ski that will balance between the two.

I think the VX is the perfect ski for him. They are very versatile and nimble for a basic ski.

I dont know if the fuel savings would justify the cost of jumping from am ultra to a vx. Will it be better on fuel? Probably. But it will be slower and he will probably be in the throttle even more than on an ultra. If he is having fun on the ultra I tjink he would be bored on a vx. Unless its a vxr

take the sponsons off, he'll be doing spin outs all day long

Sold my 300 and Ultra for more than I paid for them so no issue on taking a loss. I may go the VXR route but the extra 15 mph might get him in trouble. Pretty responsible kid but doesn't have the experience most of us have with power toys.
