    Octane booster question

We will be heading to a lake this weekend with our FZR SVHO and VXR, the lake store sells gas but only 87 octane and no gas cans are allowed at the lake. rather taking my FZR out of the water once or twice a day then driving to the nearest gas station is there a fuel additive I can safely use in my FZR with the 87 octane gas?

Premium is not needed. Specs call for regular unleaded, so 87 is fine unless it's modded. You can use octane booster for peace of mind, but it's not neccessary.

Toluene is the best in my view. If you mix it at a 20% ratio you should see a 2.5 to 3 point RON bump. Amsoil also has a quality booster that will give you about a 2 RON boost

SVHO takes premium. Based on all the threads I've read, octane boosters don't work. You might get a 1 octane boost, maybe.

Best advice was to mix in some racing fuel.

    CnP from another thread.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think I have done my due diligence. For longest range, I will carry 9.4 to 10 galls of Trick 101 to mix with marina 87 along the way. I am satisfied from my research that mixing 101 with pump gas is best way for me to safely raise octane and triple my range.

    Here are the mix ratios:

To make 10 galls of 90 (min reqd for 260)

Mix 7.7 galls of 87 with 2.3 galls of 101.

To make 10 galls of 92 (min reqd for 300)

Mix 7.3 galls of 87 with 2.7 galls of 101.

Issue with mixing race fuel is the same problem as why he can not use 93. Toluene will really be the best bet, they use it all the time in places that only sell 91 to get 93 for performance cars

My mistake. On the Ymaha website, it says regular unleaded, but I do think I read somewhere that it was a misprint and it does take premium.

He said he can't take gas cans to the lake, so bringing race fuel with him is probably not feasible.
