STXR CRANK REBUILD/EXCHANGE .....to weld or NOT to weld!?!

Looking for a quick turn or exchange on a 2003 Kawi STX-R 1200 crank. I have a core.

Anyone have experience with PWC Engine in NY. I want a nice rebuilt crank and they stock them.

    http://www.pwcengine.com/pages/Crankshaft-Remanufacturing-Warranty-%26-Core-Return.html

I checked with some guys but turn around times are long at the moment. Still waiting to hear from SkiWorx and Island. Shortblocksrus is on holiday next week and booked up.

any suggestions on what's best. I worry about cheap rebuilds....or ANY rebuilds for that matter...like what parts are used and quality of bearings. Any input or recommendations would be appreciated,

...and what's the deal to weld or not or weld?

I had Doug at short blocks r us rebuild my Ultra motor least year.... His quality was top notch.... And as Steve said, stay as far away from SkiWorx as humanly possible. I've never had anything done by PWC engine, but I have heard good things about his work. Just my 2

Yeah talked to Doug, fast response called back immediately and chatted for awhile. He was honest about the timeframe, I would like him to do it but he is on vacation in a couple days so it would set me back.

I'm in NJ and Atlantic Jetsports is down the road so I was going to talk to them next. I hear stories about Skiworx but i figured if they had an exchange i wouldnt be waiting. I havent heard of work complaints from skiworks just long turnaround times.

Hey turboman, whats parts was PWC using? I guess you were happy?

I'll have to see if he will custom work a crank or if it's just run of the mill exchange.
