    Beer. Lots of it.

Seriously. I use a 1" wide, VERY DULL chisel and it works like a charm. It will scratch the SMC here and there but you are covering it with new mats anyway. Just be careful around the outside edge perimeter. I can do a ski in about 1.5 hours and I have done 4 now.

Being up in Canada, beer is like water to us. lol. thanks. Do you have a particular favorite brand of contact cement or any water resistant will do? This is my first day out last weekend, water was 5 degrees and air temp about 50, hence the hip waders, jacket and Montreal Canadians colors on the hat! Hip waders needed to walk it out into deeper water, working on a spot at the dock for it. Still a great day on the water, dry and warm.

Just got done throwing a set of hydro turf pads on mine. I just dumped acetone on the sticky stuff that was left and scraped it up with a razor blade. It turns in to a gooy sticky mess on your hands and the razor blade but it comes off. After that some quick sanding and another wipe of acetone and on they went. I used the old kind you named to use contact cement with and they could not have turned out any better. My hull is in crazy good shape for being 14 years old but the mats were shot. Ski looks brand new now.
