2006 block with 2005 crank and electronics?

Here is the scenario ... 2005 RXP dropped a valve and cracked a sleeve. We have a very nice 2006 block, and very nice 2005 crank/CB, and all the other parts from the 2005 engine. Can we put the 2005 crank in the 2006 block and still run the 2005 wiring harness and 2005 ECU and sensors?

We will be running a 2006-up head, so no issues there, but can we bolt on the 2005 style PTO and front oil pump/vent setup on a 2006 block without issues?

Separate question - has anybody heated a block and changed a cracked cylinder sleeve on a 4-tec? That would also be an option, but I have not read much about people doing that on a 4-tec.

The 06 block has the crank case vent hole in the back of the block, so I'm not sure the 05 vent set-up will work properly on that block?

Exactly ... that seems like the only physical difference in the block. I wonder if we switched to the 06 vent set-up, that everything else would work fine? It seems like if we put all the 05 sensors and electronics, it would work ... just need to change the vent set-up maybe.

I am running a 08 block in my 05 RXT, and have had no vent issues. All I did was changed to a 06+ rocker shaft.

That is exactly what I did for my conversion. 06 Block and head, then everything else is 05. PTO/Mag cover, Oil pumps front and rear with early style venting and 05 Loom. I have used an 06 crank in there also, you just move the trigger round on the crank. I now have an 05 crank back in it and I just put the trigger wheel back to the OEM position.

Factory sleeves are cast in design not pressed in. Sleeve will need to be bored out in order to remove and then press a new one in.
