    What do you guys use in your stock pump cone?

    I'm changing the prop,grate and wear ring on my mates 2008 p-x on Sunday now anytime ive done my own Ive used marine grease in stock pump cone and bearing but I pull mine every 30 odd hours to check it over.Ive been hearing of people using oil instead of grease for better lubrication of the bearing?i can see the idea behind it as the grease is usually fired I the cone anyway where oil would flow back to bearing.anyone tried this and your thoughts?

    You got it right. Synthetic gear oil. about 2-3 oz.

    yep I use amsoil marine gear oil but royal purple etc will work too. 2.5 oz.

    Ok thanks a lot guys il give that a try and see how it goes.i take it yous sit the pump housing down and put oil over bearing then fit pump cone?

    Put oil in cone, push cone into pump. Once the 2 o-rings are in the pump, you can flip it over to put the bolts in.

    Ps whats best grade to go for?Itl be a fair bit colder here most of the time.Was thinking 75w90?Or 75w140?

    I've got 5 hours so far on a SBT bearing set and seals and I used regular old Marine Grade Trailer Bearing Grease. It's been flawless so far. My OEM pump lost a deal around the 90 hour mark and I had water in my grease. 2008 RXT
