    Looks about normal except my o ring is black. That shouldn't affect your oil readings though.

    Nope, there is a small gap, I think it just looks more bc the o ring is red. As long as the filter was pressed in good and the cap went on straight, o ring isn't pinched and the top is tight and no leaks, I would say you are good.

    the later model oil filter caps are self ejecting, a HUGE improvent over the old pry and cry caps. You'll find the newer o-rings are made from red rubber.
