Going to take the leap over..

Well to make a long story short, I'm very disappointed with my seadoo and will be testing the waters with yamaha.. I'm looking for some suggestions on what to look for and what to stay away from..

    Here's my wish list...

Low maintenance.. (Really don't like sending the supercharger out for rebuild periodically)

Reliable (I'm really wanting to get 2-3-400 hours out of the machine)

Decent in light chop and cornering..

I've been looking at the fxho as well as the vxr.. The fzr is sweet but I have a feeling that it's not what I'm looking for..

Any opinions on either machine? Any years to look for or avoid ?? Thank you in advance for all the help!

if s/c scares you , then go with the fxho 1.8 n/a engine. it doesn't get better than that.

both fxho and vxr , are trouble free skis , super reliable and require basic maintenance, vxr has better cornering and the fxho better ride in chop ( longer and heavier) , you can do that 400 - 500 hours easy on these skis without surpirises. any year is good for these two.

Hard to beat a newer N/A FX-HO if you're not wanting a supercharger. For around $300.00 it's a 65+ mph ski w/ great torque and handles very well for it's size. 100+ mile range for normal cruising. Add 5+ mph for the VXR/S and a more playful hull. Good luck !!!

    FXHO for sure.

FXHO....great in chop, plenty of power naturally aspirated, a bit more sedate and stable than the VXR. If you plan on doing any two or three up riding...then for sure the FXHO. It fits everything else you require very well.

I've had both skies and can say hands down FX-HO is the only way to go.

    Good luck, Julio...

If I could do it again I'd get the FX HO too. Wish I started a thread like this before buying the VXR lol
