Need some help! Gp1300r still cavitating!

    Hello!

After reading A LOT of this cavitation problems on gpr we all know that the first thing to do is ppk and an aftermarket intake grate.

This is my second gp1300r 2008 with 90 hours and it has horrible cavitation, first thing i did was ppk and riva double bar grate.
This didnt help at all, have check impeller and wear ring and the clearence is good no damage to wear ring.
The impeller looks ok but has litle damage on the blades, can this realy cause that much cavitation?
Im whaiting for a new dynafly 13/19 from impros.

    any ideas?

Hello and welcome to the Hulk. I did not see a pic. It is possible that prop can cause some cavitation .... not likely, unless really damaged. You should PM Rich @ WFO ... he might just be able to solve your issue after spending some time talking with him. He is after all, the Yamaha GP expert. Good Luck

that impeller is all worn out... the leading blades should be straight across, but yours are curved from wear

you really should pull the pump and get pics of the wear ring and back of pump shoe too so we can see the whole package

Wow....so if the leading is supposed to be straight, thats means it is worn????

So I looked at a photo of mine (2001 SUV)....mine has the same sort of curved leading edge, without the tiny knicks....
But mine is also sort of wavy and curved too....

    Rich...

Pretty sure the 05 - 08 GPR's have the three blade prop with the curved leading edge similar to a dynafly.
    - (I'd go as far as saying I'm 100% positive)

The 03 - 04 had that awful four blade impeller with the straight leading edges..

Also the 00 - 02 GPR's came with an impeller with a straight leading edge.!

I actually quite like the 05-08 impellers..

    Sweedo...

You will probably need to pull the pump to properly check the wear ring to impeller clearance..

Also check to make sure the felt packing piece hasn't blown out..
    - item 2 here:. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Ya...201/parts.html

Have you made sure the pump plug kit is sitting flush in the pumpshoe.
    - if it's sitting too high the shoe won't fit for shit..!!
Also double check everything is tight in the pump area..

yeah, yeah... I was thinking 1200R when I first saw the impeller, but if you really look at it you can tell it's heavily worn
