    Assuming the worst

Assuming the worst, what would you pay for a non running MSX150?
Local guy has one but it looks like it was submerged for some time. Lets just assume that it was. Parts value wise, what would you pay? There looks to be mud or sever dirt on top of the motor, the seat is torn to shreds, and he claims it ran the last time out but the wastegate was sticking.
(I have not talked to him yet as i'm not sure I want to take on another project or dismantle for resale yet)

What would you do with it?

The Weber motor is very expensive to repair. The engine mounts and inner hull liner are different from the two stroke version. Wire harness is Weber specific.

If you want to build a ground up engine conversion using perhaps a 4-Tec engine it can become something impressive.

Well if it just turned out to be dirty, i'd love to try an MSX hull, although i'd prefer to have the 140 because as you said, the webber motors are quite pricey to repair.

Most likely, i'd part it out if the value was there. I know these parts can be hard to get.

Submerged? That would pretty much make nearly all parts suspect and worthless in my mind. Now if it's just dirty and not well cared after... there could still be some good parts on there... maybe. But something broke to ground that craft... so no telling.

There are a bunch of Weber MSX110/150 parts on eBay... and those same parts have been there for a long time... talkin' years. The asking prices are ridiculous on most of the parts. So unless your looking to way undercut those existing part prices... parting out doesn't sound very profitable to me... and wouldn't be quick.

I'd pay $500 for a nice condition but broken engine MSX150. Although I'm probably the only one...haha!

    Cheers!

They pop up for free in the NE several times a year. The MSX is a Great hull and well worth the engine swap if you have the time and skills.
