2011 Gti Se electrical issue with starter relay.
Ok. Spent 5 hours with the candoo and service manual on this today. Quick history. 2011 Gti 130se. Purchased with rod knock. Started when relay jumped. ( 31 hrs). Built motor. Went ahead and put in new relay ( easy fix right) still only starts with relay jumped across terminals. Set up on candoo today. Re programmed lanyard to be sure. Spent hours with wiring diagram and oh meter to no avail. When start button is pushed it sends signal to ecu. Violet wire on relay is positive- gets good signal. Brown -yellow from ecu to relay ( should be the negative signal that activates relay) isn't grounding. Test light shows dim contact at relay on brown-yellow wire as soon as ecu is energized. When start button pushed no change. Dim signal. I can run a jumper wire from brown-yellow to ground and it will energize relay and start up. Cleared all codes. Currently no codes on candoo or on board diagnostics. I cannot figure out why I cannot get a good ground signal coming out of the ecu to energize relay. Any help very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like they sent you another bad start relay... i have had this happen once before.

I've double checked relays. The relay works and starts the ski when I send a ground to the brown/yellow wire. The ecu isn't sending a ground signal to the brown/yellow though. That's my issue is finding out why I can't get the ecu to send the ground signal to the relay to start the ski.

Have you checked all the fuses and the grounds on the engine?
