    2005 rxt starter bendix

    looking at a 2005 rxt that doesn't start. gonna see it tonight around 6 pm-est. guy says it needs a starter bendix, says starter spins but engine doesn't turn over. can you replace the bendix without pulling the motor or must the motor be pulled? has anyone else had a bendix go bad? called a local seadoo place and the guy there was super helpful and said hes never ever replaced one. just curious what everyone on here thinks and has run into.

    I havent seen to many problems with the bindix. But anything is possible.

    Flywheel might have broke a few teeth off?

    Flywheel bolts might have broken off??

    Unless your getting it cheap and you can wrench on stuff yourself I would stay away.

    You can pull the pto cover off in the ski but its a pain. If you have the tools to pull the motor its a lot easier to work on it that way.

    Took a look at it. The starter turns but the engine does not. Any chance that's just the starter?

    Not likely.

    ive seen the gear on the end of the starter fall off as well.
    and a bit more trouble a rod has knocked the starter out.

    That's what I was affraid of. What's this thing worth as it sits? The body is in great shape 97 hours. With trailer and everything. I see them going for about 4500 per nada pricing

    Depending on what's all wrong you could be looking at 3k+ in repairs

    Lbi pirate how long has the ski been sitting? If it hasn't been turned over in awhile I've used a pipe wrench on the driveshaft to get a couple of turns to make sure the engine turns over then hit the starter again to do the rest of the work
