New Spark owner - Oil Change question

    Hi All,

I'm a new Spark owner and newly registered to this forum. Of course I haven't checked the manual on this question yet. (Who needs the manual when the internet is available??) I'd like to change the oil and filter at about 10 hours. I don't have a oil suction device, but that appears to be the most accessible way to get the oil out of this configuration. (This is my first 4-stroke PWC.)

What type of suction device have people used? (Brand/model?)
Are there aftermarket oil filters available such as wix/Napa? Or do I need to stop at the Sea Doo dealer to pick one up?
Are there any recommendations about using or staying away from full synthetic oil?

Welcome aboard , you can get the oil extractor here on the GH store ...

The Spark is non supercharged so full syn oil is fine ... Taking that it only uses 2liters , use the Seadoo oil...

I have used this type before for about 3 years now, and it does the job quite well.

There are other (smaller/thinner) models, they essentially perform the same work.

Sea Doo requires first oil change at first year or 100 hrs. I changed oil only without filter at 10. I will do the complete job at season end.

Be careful, take your time, and DO NOT overfill.

When i do oil changes on the gtx i measure what I take out and put the same amount back in. As long as you have the right amount in the beginniing then you are good to go. Stops you from putting too much in.

I would recommend changing the oil filter. I've changed to oil on 2 Sparks and both had some visible metal shavings in the oil filter during the first oil change.
