    Question 01 Kawasaki 1100 stx di- how to upgrade cooling for emm

    Just had to replace emm on my ski this week. Just bought it last summer and it only has 83 hrs on it. That was an expensive hit! I was wondering if anyone could help me out on the cooling upgrade for the emm. I want to reroute the cooling exit line from the emm to a thru hull grommet. Can I just cap off the exhaust inlet, or does that line need a tee in it to go to the exhaust and the new grommet? I can't seem to find much info on doing this modification, hoping someone here can help. Thanks!

    the stock emm cooling setup is fine. Switch to clear braided nylon hose for the EMM feed and outlet so you can quickly detect if there is any blockage. setting it up as a pisser works also, but unless it's in a place you can see while riding, it isn't as good as a "fix" as it sounds.

    Doesn't hurt to blow it all out with compressed air now and then either

    I was going to put the pisser on the opposite side of the hull from the original so it could be seen easily when riding. I'm new to he ski world and have been reading a lot about the di. Seems emm overheat and failure is a common problem and very expensive to repair. I may be over reacting on the cooling issue, but the $1600 bill to repair this week has me looking for any precautionary measures I can take to prevent having that bill again. Thanks so much for the reply.

    Put a cooling water strainer (use a good one) in the inlet hose to keep trash out.
