Cool Wear Ring repair experiment ??

    Wear Ring repair experiment ??

found that I lost 8 km/p off the top end so checked the wear ring to find it worn about 2to3 mm grove around the prop area

I have had no rocks go through it so no shop on the weekend I thought I try an idea that mite work.
Its not going to make it any worse and may work I will let you know how it goes over the weeks.

1 remove pump and ware ring from ski

2 clean dry the grove or groves with acetone dry

3 mix up some 2 part epoxy, I used gel-coat repair filler as I had some left over

4 then just fill in in use a straight edge to get a nice finish less sanding after

5 sand around not too much so no lumps or groves

    6 reassemble

I let you know how it lasts the Gel-coat repair I have used on the old fiberglass repairs and is strong as so we see

Why not just replace the ring?

Some thing to think about...whats cheaper..wear ring or prop? SS wear rings are known to wear props out instead of the wear ring....

This ski needs some improvements in the pump area......... better prop, sturdier pump and a much stronger wear ring. The props are gouging them up and the wear rings break if anything bigger than a quarter comes through the pump. There has to be a lot of flexing and movement going on.

Its a PLASTIC ski.....you beef up the pump you will start breaking the hull or top deck.....The Spark is what it is ....its a cheap disposable ski....Like I said be fore, Id like an engine out of one of them though....seems like theres going to be plenty of running motors before long.....
