Mine did that after 6 months. Fuel gels up with all this ethanol crap in there. Running the blue marine stay-bil solved my problem.

How long did you let it sit with old fuel? Ethanol fuel begins to break down after 30 days, I personally never let it sit in my tank for longer then 21 days before I burn it off and put fresh fuel in or pump it out and put 100ll in which has no ethanol.

6 months. Did it the next year again with the blue stay-bil and worked fine. I run the Blue Stay-bil all year now. I don't ride near as much as I used to.

Hi! I just pulled the carbs out of a ski witch has been sitting for 4 years with the intent of fixing them up.

They have gunk like this around the outer edges, and it doesn't appear to dissolve with carb cleaner. How do you remove the stuff which is really stuck on there? I don't want to damage the carbs by using something too abrasive.

Is there some chemical other than standard carb cleaner I should use to make sure there isn't any of this stuff in the passageways of the carb?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate any help you can provide!

looks like Corn syrup. Ethanol gunk.
I had my carbs redone last fall & I also use Stabil on every tank & double dose for storage. A tank won't last me more than a week at most during the sea on & I fill up in the marinas(which are supposed to be ethanol free), but Im not taking chances.

Was that carb in use for 14yrs or just sitting? no way it could run like that.
