Need 2 polaris 2003 virage repaired in NE Georgia

Does anyone know a place to take 2 waverunners 2003 Polaris Virage to be repaired? Both EMM have been sent to alabama and both were serviced and suppose to be working. Neither ski will crank and no one that we have taken them to knows anything else to do to them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Welcome to the hulk.

You'll find plenty of help with Polaris injection and service basics at k447's pages ( see sig link)

Look for info on the start/stop module and how to check for voltage at the solenoids.

You can jump the solenoids with a heavy bit of metal ( make sure the hull has been fully ventilated) to see if the engines will even turn over.

Some history on the skis will be helpful also.

    Welcome

The EMM actually has nothing to do with cranking the engine. The EMM only gets involved after the engine is turning over with the starter motor.

Are you willing to do some diagnostics on your machines?

If yes, give us some history on each machine. Has either machine ever worked properly for you? How long have you owned them?

We have had the skis for 3 years. The first year they worked good, the 2nd year the EMM on one was sent to Alabama and worked fine. Then last year one would sputter and not run well and the other would not crank. We pulled both out of the water and took them to a polaris dealer and they kept them for 3 months. Someone else worked on them and said they EMM was bad on both. Both were sent to Alabama and 1 was repaired and they said the other one tested ok. Both Skis cranked after replacing the EMM but only the one time and neither will crank now. Thanks!

My guess is that there may be more than one issue with each machine. It will take some diagnostic steps to narrow down the problem causes and go from there.

    by any chance have you:

used a car battery charger on either ski or jumpstarted from a running vehicle either ski?

Notice any evidence of rats?..droppings chewed seats etc...

Just because the tech said the emms tested fine doesn't really mean they will be fine on your ski, specially if something as vital as the crankshaft position sensor has failed.

On the bench they feed the emm what it wants to see and it will respond in kind by indicating it is running by firing the injectors and so on.

IF you go thru the pages on Polaris provided, you'll know far more about how things work then you did just a few days ago.

There is a prodigious amount of info available there.

Having a manual really helps as there are some excellent diagrams on the injection system layouts including all the expected sensor reading etc.

There are a couple of other handy tips...such as making a code reader out of an led bulb which helps you ( sometimes) narrow down a problem

you'll find all of this info easily.

first order of bizzz...that pesky starter button...
