Is there only way to use a block off plate on a Sea Doo?

Sounds crazy I know but follow me here. Picked up a very nice 97XP and a 99XPL a few days ago. Both are in mint shape but here's the odd part. The previous owner never really rode them much and he says he mixed the gas himself.
I looked inside and the fuel does appear darker than normal so I can assume he was pre mixing. but the odd thing is that the oil tank, pump and lines are still connected and there is no block off plate installed. The tank has oil so
I started them for a sec in my driveway and they smoked more than normal. Could this guy just be insane or is there a way to block off the pump without actually removing it or ?
I am totally scratching my head on this one lol..... Thanks.

Is the oil pump actually pumping? He may have just removed the internal drive, or disconnected the throttle to oil pump cable.

Sounds like he may have been giving them a double dose.

Only way to tell is to pull the mag cover and see if the drive shaft is there

Or run it and see if the oil level in the tank ever goes down.

if you run it, make sure you mix the gas just in case!

Remove and ground the spark plugs. Pull one of the output lines off of the oil pump. Hold the throttle wide open and crank the engine. If the pump drive is still connected you should see a pulse of oil every few seconds out of the pump.
