Shop say's supercharger can't be rebuilt only replaced. IS THIS TRUE?

Hello everyone! I appreciate all of your advice and help. The repair shop is telling me that the supercharger on my 2005 RXT can't be rebuilt, but has to be completely replaced for $1500. Does this make sense?

I think he said that it's because the supercharger has seized up.

Even if it's to the point it needs to be replaced you can get a rebuilt charger in the classifieds for 350-400$. New ones around about 800$ *Not 100% Sure on that number*. Don't pay the stealership 1500$

Why would it have to be replaced and not just rebuilt? I rode it for about 15 mins and noticed the rpm/speed changing alot. Turned it off and it wouldn't start back up.

because the dealer can make more money selling you a new one

If the housings are too badly damaged, then you would need a complete new one. Could upgrade to an X charger for the same $$, but would need some injectors, and a prop pitch.

Have Jerry take a look at it first...don't pull the trigger cause the dealer says so...even if it is junk Jerry will get you one at a far better price than that..and even if the bearings are seized to the shaft...there's a chance the whole shaft assembly can be pressed out as one as long as it isn't seized to the cases
