    1998 951 balance shaft

    I am rebuilding a 951 out of a gsx limited. It ate a rave valve which destroyed the crank. My question is, has anyone rebuilt the balance shaft? Or does everyone just buy one. Bearings and seals are cheaper than a new shaft. I'm doing this build right and don't want to trust old bearings and seals. I've read many posts and heard the nightmares of replacing one piece and not another. Thanks for any insight!

    or, better yet, how does it come apart?? I tried it on the press, but gave up....didnt want to cost myself any more money than I have to.

    The bearings are nothing special the make and part number are etched into the outer race, Kyoto if I remember correctly. Last 951 rebuild I did I bought the oem Seadoo seals, got new bearings from a bearing supplier and used a press at my friends shop. Total cost was a fraction of a new oem shaft and about half what SBT charges.

    Thank you sir!!! I didnt want to cost myself even more money. I have been building and racing 2 strokes for years. I own my own business. Skis are new to me. Just wanted to make sure

    If I remember correct the counterbalancer weights are not keyed on the shaft so make sure and mark them before disassembly.
