Intake Grate Bolts on the RXP
Iím not afraid of ghosts, Iím not afraid of heights, Iím not even that afraid when I get a registered letter from the IRS in the mail but I am afraid to put red loctite back on the Grate bolts. I just finished drilling 2 bolts out that the red loctite wouldnít let go of. Both were in the Inserts. Whoís Idea at Bombardier was that to loctite stainless bolts into Brass fittings in Plastic? Probably the same guy who suggested putting Ceramic washers in the turbo....

I have a '06 that I just swapped grates on & the bolts came right out with no heat; still had the Loctite Red residue on them too.
Jerry (Green Hulk) sd, see my post in the performance forum, he uses red on the intake grate bolts. Personally I think its overkill. If you read the specs on the Loctite website Loctite 271 is for large fasteners. The front grate bolt had nothing on it other than the black sealant.
BTW - You mean S/C'er right . Welcome to the forum.

Yea I did mine today and they came out just fine. Hey were nice and tight, but no problems

IF you dont, periodically check the bolts. They DO come loose. When the grate drops at WOT, you WILL go airborne

I saw a post on the site where a guy put a whole boat load of silicone on his grate when installing it. What seems to be the preferred method around here? And the Riva instructions say use Blue Loctite don't they?

A wrench over at Riva told me to use silicone as well.....not sure about a grate though

When i installed my grate i used blue loctite on the threads of the bolts. I used silicone around the all bolt holes. There was silicone on the front bolt on the OEM peice.

I use the red loctite on my riva grate and also put four bolts, some info jerry gave me that would stop the grate from coming out.
