    Seadoo RXX

I just picked up a RXX for short money. The ski had 52 hours on it and the crank locked up and the motor is out. I have a spare 951 out of a 99 XPL that had 35 hours on it. I am debating wether to put that in or build a new motor. I read the head is different. Should I use the XPL motor and just swap the head? I want to build and ride this machine and I would like it to last at least a few months LOL

As far as I know The RXX came with an R&D Head but you can use the hole engine from your XPL or use the head. It will work. Since they are twin piped they need a bit more compression and RPM to get max power of them.

    Hope this helps

I think the cases are different on the RXX. I have both here as well, if you want me to check. As far as I know, the RXX has a stock head. I'd have to check, but its not on the list of factory modifications, I believe. On the cases, don't the RXX cases have extra water cooling, or something along those lines.

The 2 RXX that I purchased came with stock 951 heads-- or looked the same as all the other 951 heads that I have.

Are there really that many RXX owners here? Thats surprising. Anyone done modifications to keep the machine from trying to kill you? Flipping off at 60+ is a bit un-fun.

Thanks all. I think the block is the same it am getting different answers on the head. I will put the RXX head on the motor I have and build the old engine with a hot rods crank and Pro-X pistons so WHEN is blows up I will have another motor ready. My wife says 2 motors then you part it out. LOL. I will take all the input from you guys that I can get. On the carbs, I am going to rebuild them but leave the factory jetting and setting the same

I can try to help you out. You are correct, that is what I was trying to get at, it has water cooled cases. I think you meant the RX DI motor, but like you mentioned, cases are similar. What do you need to know, just where those few lines go? I'll see what I can do, probably tomorrow morning.

Also, here is a photo of my RXX head in the ski as of current. I also snapped a photo of a Rossier Engineering head I have. Pretty clear the difference, if anyone was wondering. Click image for larger version.
