    Yamaha gay spray

Can anyone recommend a tap or valve suitable for fitting onto the gay spray hose to enable me to turn it off and on. I need to be able to turn it off whilst towing inflatables and on when going on a safari around the Bristol channel. There are many suggestions on Greenhulk however, the 1/4 turn valves are only available in the States and I can't seem to find an alternative in the UK.

That's a great idea, I'm sure your local hardware store or plumbing centre will have something you can use

As a temporary fix I ran the hose down toward the ride plate. Made sure its away from everything and secured it... I've put 6 hours on the machine with no issues yet. Probably not the most imaginative fix but I couldn't bare to be seen with that "gay spray" and haven't had much time to play around with it. I'm going to put a valve in this weekend and reconnect it properly. Anyone think this would be an issue running it like this for a long time?

I just cut mine and clamped a bolt in it. I did the same thing on my GPR and haven't had issues.

On my friend's FZS, we used a copper valve that we found in the plumbing department of Home Depot. It was heavy duty with a low profile handle on the valve. Just take the hose with you so you can test fit the ends. I don't know of any issues with that setup in the last two years. In fact, they don't ever turn the spray on.

No matter what you do, make sure you account for the reverse bucket so it doesn't get hung up with you drop it.

I think he wants to keep the spray but just have the quick option to shut it on and off. I'll go to the hardware store later and see what they have

Here's what I used but be mindful you need to get one with quite a small "body" as your reverse gate will hit it when you push it back up.. As I experienced with the original one I bought.. This cost me $3
ps. From Australia, I find it hard to believe you can't get a 1/4 turn valve in the uk?Click image for larger version.

I just tapped the fitting coming through the hull to 3/8 SAE and I i keep a bolt in the glove compartment and spin it in when I tow. you could also use a 10mm bolt, it is a tad bigger then 3/8" and the plastic fitting taps very easily.
