    Pump shoe symptoms

I recently ditched all the "shark teeth" from the pump shoe, a couple were chipped pretty good so I cut and sanded them flush. Ski is running great but I have read the threads regarding pump shoe alignment from the factory being pretty off and it got me thinking. I have riding buddies that are not pulling the MPH they should be with their mods, however RPMS seem perfect. I understand it could cause cavitation but could it scrub a lot of speed on the top end? I am considering picking up the alignment tool and changing mine next winter, just for the peace of mind knowing that it is trued.

Dry fit, dry fit, DRY FIT....

After I prepped my new hull I spent a whole afternoon/evening just dry fitting the shoe. Getting all the shims needed, getting it JUST RIGHT...I then removed everything, installed sealant, installed shims, and torqued it down...constantly checking alignment. Even too much torquing of the bolts would change the angle. I got it just right, and left it to dry for a week...6 years later, its still perfect

^---same. It is to date the worst thing I've had to deal with. This is one project that you don't want to drink beer with. Put on relaxing music, pictures of kittens and puppies then start it.

Thanks, I have read that thread through and that is what got me thinking initially. I understand what is involved and will fully prepare myself mentally before the project. The kittens and puppies suggestion seems like a good idea, may give it a try. But my real question is if misalignment will scrub significant speed or would we just see cavitation on hole shot?
