Jettribe Team Rider Trey Frame at the First 2 rounds of the US Pro Watercross Tour
Jettribe catches up with Team Rider Trey Frame after the First 2 rounds of the US Pro Watercross National Tour
2014 US Pro Watercross Tour
Round 1 – Pensacola, FL:
After taking off the majority of last year, the Black Star Motorsports / National Guard Racing Team were very excited to get back to PWC racing on tour. Not only for the racing, but for a chance to see old friends and our PWC family. Pensacola, FL would play host to the event and everyone was excited about racing in the waves. The atmosphere around the race site was buzzing, but we soon found out the conditions would be far more challenging than anticipated. The conditions were brutal and there were very few riders able to stay on their craft. In Pro Runabout Open Trey Frame had an eject at the start of Moto 2 that left him with a deeply bruised left leg and injured right knee. He finished Moto 2 in 6th, but would not be able to answer the call for Moto 3. Finishing 7th overall on the weekend. Jettribe Team rider Cameron Frame fared better in Pro Runabout Limited. Attacking the conditions Cameron finished 2nd Place in Moto’s 1 and 2. The top 3 riders in the Limited class had been dicing back and forth throughout the weekend. Needing a top finish in the final Moto was key for an Overall for the weekend and Cameron was ready. The 3rd Moto would be hard fought and the last lap had Cameron passing the leader Dennis Mack. With victory in sight and one turn to go, the waves came crashing down on the last buoy before the finish and displaced it enough to cause a missed buoy infraction and a very disappointing end to a great battle. Cameron finished 3rd overall on the weekend. Now the team would regroup and make its way to Panama City Beach for Rd. 2 of the Pro Watercross Tour.
Round 2 – Panama City Beach, FL:
Panama City Beach would host Round 2 of the Pro Watercross Tour and the conditions were night and day compared to Round 1. Crystal clear and water conditions that at times resembled a lake. In PWC racing, you just never know! All though battered and bruised, the Black Star Motorsports / National Guard Racing team was ready to compete. However, like Round 1, the bad luck would continue to follow Trey Frame in the Pro Runabout Open class. At the beginning of Moto 1, Trey would break a drive shaft 50 feet out from the start and he was immediately hit by another rider (see video clip) “I was very fortunate that I was wearing my Jettribe back and leg protection. It really knocked the wind out of me for a few seconds, but the back protector saved me. It could have been a lot worse”, Trey said. Running on adrenaline, he mounted his backup boat and Finished 3rd, 3rd and 5th in the 3 Moto format earning him 4th overall on the weekend. In the Pro Runabout Limited class Cameron Frame was not without incident on the weekend. A Moto 1 first turn crash would hinder his momentum from Round 1. Charging back he was able to place 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd in the 3 Moto format earning him 3rd overall for Round 2. With a break in the action, the team is heading back to WV to recoup and get ready for the next rounds of the Pro Watercross Tour.
