    00' GPR: Rebuild, part out, or sell as is...

    Blown 3rd cylinder on my GPR, only had maybe 130hrs on it. I'm mechanically inclined but I store the ski at the lake house which is about 40mins away. Last thing I want laying around my garage is a bunch of parts for my wife to bitch about for both a rebuild and/or a part out...

    So, rebuild/swap engine, part out, or sell as is, what would you do?

    Since you have an 08 GPR I would part it out and save the hull for a conversion or part it out/sell it and pick up a 4 stoke. Otherwise I would rebuild it, GPRs are the last of a slowly dying breed and will be a classic.

    My main goal is to have 2 equal-like, low hour skis so my 2 teenagers won't bicker all summer about who gets to drive the quicker one. I've thought about the 4-stroke route but owning a pair of Gprs, I'm very familiar with the engines, the maintenance, the ride, the problems, etc... so I'm comfortable buying another Gpr vs a four stroke.

    as far as blown 3rd cylinder what's the extent of the damage?

    If the cases are good, still better to part out. That year GPR doesn't bring much running, but parted can bring almost it's worth depending on how much of the engine is salvageable.
