I took it home.
Not cus I eat it but because I have a friend who would have shot me if I hadn't given it to him. Lol. That guy loves barracuda. Says it tastes better than grouper or snapper.. he ate it and is still alive, soooooo I guess he really can tell if it has sigua toxins in it.

Your friend is likely so high on whatever else he's smoking to realize how dangerous it really is to eat cudas caught in our area. I hope for his case this knucklhead only eats it and not his wife or GF, she can hurt or damage her uterus and affect he unborn children
Barracudas consume a wide variety of fish and most of these are herbivorous, some of these fish are filter-feeders and will filter these toxic microalgae out of the water andaccumulate the toxins in their tissues. These fish will be eaten by barracudas passing on the cigua toxins to the barracudas (and knuckleads eating them) ...They are commonly seen on cudas over four lbs. the fact you caught him and he put up a fight isa good indication he wasn't sick, but you are still playing with fire...or he is at least. Cudas are junk fish, and usually used for chum. I hate chumming with one when I dive because they stink worse then a landfill...
Good luck with youand your friend, nice fish on rod and reel, they're fun to fight.

I force no one to eat anything.
It fought like I had a nuclear Russian submarine on the other end. Except for when it jumped out of the water like a sword fish.
not only did the knuckle head eat it but his wife children and a couple of neighbors did also.
Also thanks for the lesson on how the toxin is passed along. I know how it works. Did you also know that if you live by what you read you will never again eat grouper, snapper, king fish and a group of other things that feed on reef fish...

Lol,now you've taken facts and mixed them with fiction. Thanks for that laugh. I guess I should expect to see cuda catch of the day soon?
Google " dangers of eating grouper"
And then "dangers of eating baracuda "

They eat the same reef fish and store the same toxins in their flesh. None of them can dispel the toxin. You can't cook it out, heat doesnt effect it, there realy is no way of knowing if it has it. Penny in the mouth, ants, flies cat eats it. Puffttt its all bull.
I know of it and am not in any way a knuclehead. Only fish I eat are 10-15 inch snappers and barely legal sized groupers. I in no way whatsoever will eay cuda knowingly. But live n let live n dont judge is my moto.
I now know never to offer you a barracuda. Enjoy your weekend and happy fathers day (just in case).
