I don't think its enough prop. The 371 prop that the 780s use is a 15/20

I agree. The 95 SLX 780 used the same 4 blade as the SL 750

so the 780's in either sl or slt trim are faster than the 700's?they all show to run a nujet 5.0.

The 700s turn around 300 RPM more than the 780s. My SLTH 700 was faster up top than a SLT 780 but the 780 beat me out of the hole.

My 96 SL700 (better heads-6350rpm pipe/cylinders-40mm w/accel-371 prop) Beat my friends SLT780 out of the hole and up top,Domestic engines love the accel pump.

The 96 set up seemed to make more torque but less HP. With the heads and carbs-adding the 371 prop only cost 50 rpm , but added speed.

Installed a 6700 rpm pipe on this set up-only saw 6640 w/457 prop-but did not like the 371 prop at all.

after doing some research i've come to the conslusion that a 12/17 would work but would be slower and probably have better takeoff if it stayed hooked up.seems like the 780 has more torque simple from the added cylinder but the 700 spins more rpm and has more hp up top.

I bet you would be on the limiter of a 780 with the 12/17. I think the limiter is only 6600 for the 780s
