08 GTX Instrument Gauge comes on every 10 seconds

    Hello -

I have an 08 Sea Doo GTX 155 and went to the lake yesterday. Would not start and battery was dead. Replaced battery and everything ran great. Noticed when we came off of the lake that the instrument cluster would come on about every 10 seconds with the Welcome Aboard message and all of the indicators would light up without the key attached. Goes off after about 3 seconds and then repeats. I am sure i am draining my battery (which probably caused the first one to die).

Any suggestions on where to start tracking this problem down?

    Thanks for your help!

Part #9 DESS post is most likely sticking and should be replaced. Another thing to test is disconnect the main harness underneath the dash, ensure there is no water and good connections, then reconnect.

JT - thanks for the suggestion! Tried disconnecting the DESS as well as the main harness. Instrument cluster does not come on (obviuosly) but i can still hear the pump trying to come on and the same interval. I am really at a loss now.

    Short maybe?

    Thanks

Your saying you disconnected the DESS harness from the main harness and the power still cycles on and off to the dash cluster? If so, then the DESS post is not the problem.

There is a big relay in the circuit breaker panel, that could also be the problem.

That is correct...i disconnecte the 6 pin and 2 pin harnesses that lead to the instruments, DESS switch, start/stop button. I did not have any power to the instrument cluster, but i could hear what i believe is the fuel pump coming on at the same intervals.

i'd check the fuse box, sounds like water intrusion.

I have the same problem for a year now.

***Anyone figure out the cause? *****

I had to install a battery disconnect switch to kill all power when I'm done for the day
