    V-tech 8375 = 8050???

I have a 2014 RXT-X, just flashed the ECU with the latest V-tech version of 8375 rpms. I installed a 4 inch air intake, I had a Riva water intake grate, but found it too aggressive for my liking. Everything else is stock.
My max RPMs are 8050, just wondering if I should be seeing more than that, do I need other upgrades to achieve the 8375 rpms? My goal is to max my rpms/speed and stay under the line in the sand of 8400 and not replacing the valve train.
Would it be safe to go to the next level, I think itís 8800, with the thought that I would get somewhere around 8400 rpms
    Thoughts?

Change or repitch prop or bigger Supercharger ...

    A reflash won't always give u more rpm ...

You will need to go to 8650rpm and do ur valve train upgrade , been there done that many times and the 8650 tune gives u more room to grow ...

Changing the tune will not give you 400 more RPM's. What were your RPM's before you reflashed?

With only a 4" air on a stock prop that may be about right. Replacing the IC, IMO, along with the 4" air is what really wakes these skis up. I also am curious to know what your rps's where prior.

    rpm's were 7700-7800

What intercooler do you recommend, and what is a IMO?

Removing the flame arrestor inside the intake will give you some too!!

Remove the FA in the intake manifold and upgrade your IC like troy said and you should be right around your limiter I believe. Plus you will be replacing what might eventually be a leaky IC anyways.

    Several possibilities.

If your crankcase vent was ever connected to your intake and the motor was run that way, you could have oil caked in the intercooler. This will kill power.

It is possible your WOT fuel pressure is something different then 58-60 PSI.

You could be getting high intake temps and the ECU is pulling timing.

You could be getting detonation and the ECU is pulling timing.

Assuming the prop is original and unbent, you should be getting about 8200 - 8400 RPM depending on intake air and water temps.

Note that number on the Vtech tune name is where the rev limiter is preset. This is not necessarily the RPM that your motor will in smooth water.
