    1996 polaris slt 780 RPM

my slt 780 wont go above 5200 rpm. compression is all good, i already cut the limp mode wire and carbs are good. plugs are also brown, but they are champion plugs, not the original NGK. any ideas. also i just realized my coupler went bad so i am replacing that as well.

I would guess its fuel related. Have you gone through the carbs and fuel system to make sire everything is squeaky clean?

Put the correct NGK spark plugs in. One less variable to go wrong.

Depending on how it was prepared for storage, the carbs could be gummed up internally with dried gasoline.

Put it this way, when I drained all the old gas out, I filled up a water bottle and a quarter of the bottle was water and the gas was piss yellow

Have you drained gas and replaced with new? Cleaned carbs? Checked pump to make sure it's not weak?
