    Engine rebuild gp1200

    Have a spare motor to go in my 97 that seized the front cylinder when an oil line popped off and I cannot for the life of me get the head to separate from the jugs or the jugs to separate from the case. Any tricks or tips I need to know a bout? I want to open it up and replace the rings but damn this thing will not come apart.

    Well, found out why I couldn't get the jugs to separate from the case. Finally got pissed and started beating it off with a 5 pound hammer. Pistons were rust welded to the sleeves. Actually pulled the sleeves out with the pistons when I got the cylinders off. Crank was rusted in place, pistons were rusted to the rods. Called the guy I got it from and he said it was fine when he pulled it. Fogged it and put it on the shelf.......5 years ago, in Florida! It came with a ski I bought so I can't be mad, it was basically free. Did get a good head and starter off of it at least.
