cedar island or moorehead city nc to cape hatteras

Has any one tried this trip it really wouldn't take long on a ski as its only about 22 miles to ocracoke island and like another 12 to Hatteras. I have been many times on the ferry and usually with calm winds the sound is fine for the crossing I know it can get a little hairy possibly between Ocracoke and Hatteras but its still fairly mild with calm winds with the sand bars. Just curious if anyone had experienced it and had any recommendations on a place to stay near a marina in Hatteras?

You'll have to check the PWC laws there. The Outter Banks of NC have some unfriendly laws towards PWC's. Most places only allow operation on the Sound or within a certain distance from shore on the ocean side.
