08' RXT 215 issue, Died , and now wont restart
Here's a strange one, for the 4-tec guru's out there.
I was riding the Kissimmee river today, and was getting an intermittent 12V low code.
I trickle charged the battery over night, last night, and it spins over fine, all day. On the way back to the ramp, it starts running poorly, loosing power, and beeping a low fuel alarm, but still had a half tank. (visually confirmed) the fuel guage now read empty, and could not run over 50 ish. The only code it threw was a PO562 (low voltage).
So I kept going as far as I could , not wanting to shut it off fearing it may not restart.
Well it would casionally pick up, and get back full power, and run up to 8160 rpms, then die out again, like it was running out of fuel, OR batt voltage till the injectors, and pump couldn't run anymore.
SO, I beached it, and checked all fuses. All check out good, the voltage regulator was kinda hot to the touch. I hear the fuel pump come on, and press the Schrader valve to see if it has pressure (it does). I try to re-start it, and it spins over fine, just wont start..... maybe no spark, or fuel pressure too low. Towed it back to ramp, and head home.
I install an inline fuel pressure guage when I get home, try to start it, and get 58 psi key-on, and while cranking. Changed fuel pump anyways, and fuel level module= still reads empty, and no fuel on the dash.....??? Check spark=OK.install new plugs, and pull valve cover to verify timing chain is tight, and still good, but still wont start.
WTF is going on? I have Spark, and fuel pressure in the rail, and it wont start. Compression seems good, haven't verified yet.
Anything I might have overlooked, or need to check? I figured if a crank, or cam sensor went bad, it would have thrown a code...

It's weird to be riding, and then have them all of a sudden just stop working properly....?
Last time I tried that test, my hands & ski caught fire,
Starter sparked, or sumthing, lighting it... I will unplug the coils this time too..

you able to put a voltage meter on it and see if the voltage is low?

I'll try that tomorrow for sure, Load test it, and let u know what I get.

It would display the active code in the info center
While beeping at me & flashing batt and check eng icons

Have you gone over the cables for corrosion or loose/bad connections ? ?

My money is 100% on battery. So many times the battery tricks you into thinking it's not the culprit as you see a voltage, you've fully charged and it turns engine over.
But there's no oomph behind it, it's too worn out and weak.
Often it screws with the dash and causes mayhem.
Put in a new AGM battery, one from the East Penn group and I bet you're all fixed. Hot regulator sounds like demand has been high and constant, another sign.
Update forum when you solve.
ps, if the regulator dies you won't charge the battery when you're riding either, that can also affect the dash.
