    timing on polaris hurricane

    hi just want to say great form here!!! new to this too. i just bought 1996 polaris hurricane all stock and having hard time getting help nobody around here Wv works on them and call all boat places and they dont want nothing to do with polaris so that said does anybody have a pic of timing screws set in time on the update kit?? i dont have tool to do it and i have not found any marks on flywheele. it set right now right in middle. guy i bought it from said it ran but after new stator and i got get new update coil i dont belive it ran right and i just dont want break anything else. thank you for your help!!!! and many thanks!!!

    There is no specific place in the slots on the flywheel for the timing ring bolts to be positioned.

    You can use the Hall Effect sensor test method with 9 volt battery to check the static timing of the ignition.

    Then use a timing light to check the running timing at the specified RPM, per the service manual for your engine. Only catch is that the starter Bendix gear uses the flywheel cover for front end bearing support so starting the engine with the flywheel cover off risks damage.

    k447, well i guess i need to buy a service manual i dont know what hall effect senser is or look like i thought i did so can you tell me what book i need some say with update kit use 2000yr and above or 96-97 book. and can you tell me about (small)black ground wire that went to battery form elc box if it needs hook up or taken off i been told both ways???. im still waiting on coil to get here. i might bight off i can chew with this ski ha. many thanks again!!
