I am a recreational rider. I am 95% river/freshwater rider. I would like to leave the engine stock except for intake mods such as the Fizzle 4" intake and removal of internal filter element. I would like to do some minor driveline upgrades such as the pump wedge, grate, and maybe a prop. My 1st question is, are all aftermarket intake grates more prone to breaking than the stock grate? Thank you for your help.

Best bang for buck is the 4 inch fizzle and an intake grate... That will give you 2 to 4mph easy...

I would bet at no more than 1 to 2 mph, top..isn't 4mph kinda optimistic? I gain 5 mph with x charger, 42 injectors and 4 inch intake.... Gps speed. I am at 68 mph. Faster than some 70-72mph claimed rxtx's.

A grate will net you no increase on it's own...and an air intake isn't gonna do it either.

A 4" front air....tweek the oem prop or get a 14/17 tweeked to suit...a wedge will get the hull outa the water a bit...(I like skegs after that to help kill the squirliness and aid in straight line tracking through chop)...all the freebs....maybe block up the opas.

all for around $500 in the classifieds and diy....maybe get you 3mph.

Make sure those sc's have been rebuilt (if not twice in their life...then at least once with '08+kit) before anything.

the fastest grate for a std RXT is the stock one. Unless you're coming unhooked leave it there

I appreciate the input. I will take it and decide, then post here once it is done. So far the Fizzle 4", reverse bucket trim, and prop are for sure. What about the internal element in the intake? Are you guys removing it?

I think he is referring to the flame arrestor in the X skis, but since he has rxt 215's, that would be the internal intercooler. Yes, you can remove the internal intercooler as long as your replace it with an external setup.
