Stainless wear ring Yay or Nay???

Ok, I`m getting my stones broke here from the locals (oh boy!) about me using a stainless wear ring. I would like you guys to list the pro`s and con`s about it.
This would be my typical outing: start out on river, go approx 16-17 miles till hit bay, cruise another couple of miles and go into inlet, come around and cruise some more, average miles per run-53-56...I generally don`t go where it is to low, and always launch from and return to brakish waters on the river. I give reference to this bc I`m not clam digging with my ski, and I understand that you could always suck up a plastic bag or debris...Let me hear your Yays or Nays...PR...

I'm all for the stainless wear ring, but it is important you go with the double/tripple bearing mod.

I will let you know how my tripple bearing mod turns out once i get it back from Skat Trak.

A reson I`m asking is that I`m being told (down here) that any debris that enters the pump with a stainless wear ring will grenade the pump and cause engine failure, from crank or drive shaft. I`m confident of you guys using the stainless, it`s hard to convince others of this opinion...PR...

    That is totally false!

If you suck up something big/hard enough to fuck up your pump with a SS wear ring it will do the same thing to a pump with a plastic wear ring.

I find that if i suck up something soft such as a bag, or twig i just chop it up and spit it out with the SS wear ring whearas a plastic wear ring would have been trashed.

Pale, all skis I know of aside from SeaDoos have metal wear rings. My previous 4 skis all had them and I got lots of stuff in there. More than your average user. No seizing.

If you run with water with debris or over stockish RPMs, then a SS wear ring is the way to go, imo. If not, I wouldn't bother.

I'm running around 8500 RPM at times and have the SS wear ring, but I still see no need for the multibearing setups. To me that's more of one of those things you do once a problem happens. Meaning, if you accidently get some water in there and screw up some bearings, then go multibearing. Until then I am in the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" group.
