    Synthetic oil/filter for 2012 Kawasaki Ultra 300?

Will this oil work in my 2012 Kawasaki Ultra 300? Mobil1 Racing 4T 10W-40 4-Cycle Motorcycle Oil

Also, do you guys recommend using a K&N oil filter or some other brand?

motorcycle oil not recommended - it has additives in it for the motorcycle clutch that you don't want for PWC application

Suggest you stay with factory / OEM filter

Amsoil doesn't contain friction modifiers and is an excellent choice for this engine, which runs hot and needs a good synthetic. Kawasaki does not manufacture oil or filters, it's all rebadged, mid grade stuff. The Kaw filters are cellulose type, mediocre at best. K&N is a very good filter, but if you can find a 100% synthetic (glass media) filter such as Amsoil or RP, better yet.

That oil will work just fine as it has all the specs listed in the manual for oil requirements:

    Mobil1 Racing 4T 10W-40 4-Cycle Motorcycle Oil
Service Classification API SM, SL, SJ, SH, CF, JASO MA
On page 149 of your owners manual you will find the service classification requirements and all those above are listed in the manual.

I use Valvoline 4T Stroke Full Synthetic Motorcycle Oil
    http://www.valvoline.com/products/br...le-atv-oil/129

Motorcycle oils do not contain friction modifiers due to motorcycle wet clutch slippage when friction modifiers are present. You will be just fine using that oil. Think about it, that engine is a Kawasaki Ninja derived 1498cc motorcycle engine with a ZR1 supercharger on it. Why would a motorcycle oil be bad for it ? Motorcycle oils must protect at High RPMs and temperatures and are some of the most rigorously tested and thermally stable oils produced.
Use the OEM filter though. I would not use a K&N filter.

I've been running the K&N filter for 3 years with no issues. Particle count analysis and filter paper tests prove they outperform the stock cellulose filters. The "use only OEM" statement is always completely baseless, same is true on the auto forums

I run amsoil, and an oem filter. I love amsoil in all my powersport applications.
