'94' WR III Mag Timing??? Stator Mounting???
Anyone know if the elongated holes on either side of the stator mounting plate play a roll in timing the magneto?
I bought a complete new stator to try & fix my miss at WOT & the mounting plate has maybe a .75"-1.0" inch long hole for the mounting screws. I don't see any type of a mark to set timing, but figure the plate is adjustable for some reason.
With the stator sitting behind the flywheel, behind the front cover, behind the oil pump, it doesn't seem to be something you'd be able to adjust while running the engine, so I'm wondering if there's a "bench" setting to adjust to when assembling it at installation.
Never have been able to find an affordable manual on the '94 WR 3 either, but could sure use one. Anyone know a source? Last time I looked they were still pushing $50
Attached is a pic of the holes I'm referring to.
Thanks in Advance.

The CLYMER manual says, "When installing the stator plate, align the index mark on the stator plate with the crankcase index mark, aligning these marks sets the ignition timing. ( C, Figure 68 )"
The index marks should be near the elongated hole of the stator plate, shown circled on the right side of your picture.
"Coat the stator plate rubber seal with silicone sealant before installing it."

Set it slightly advanced of the center and don't worry about it. It will be good there.
