Black intercoolers cool MUCH better than silver- without airflow

This test is interesting and would seem to greatly benefit our 300X Intercoolers due to the limited airflow.

i don't believe color has any bearing on a water to air IC,

In the case of the 300's I wouldn't call it limited airflow to cool the core I'd call it zero airflow to cool the core. Like John said, it's watercooled

Good point, never mind. Interesting nonetheless with regard to air to air intercoolers.

Even for air-to-air (automotive) applications, I would consider this test flawed because they're testing the painted IC sitting in a relatively cool room. Try putting it in an already heat soaked engine bay and the convection/conduction gradient is gone for the most part

Very interesting though, regardless of other variables and given the controls, that much of a difference is definitely surprising. I'd also like to see it replicated though a few times over though through on different platforms.

Actually, a black painted IC sitting in a heat soaked engine bay at the dragstrip may actually perform WORSE because it will transfer more heat from the engine bay. If this worked, everyone running a boosted drag application would be running it, but they aren't

Has anyone tried using an ice reservoir box to circulate cold water in or around the intercooler ?
This is popular for the s/c mustangs for 1/4 mile runs to avoid heat soaking. The simple solution would be to drop a bag of ice beside the I/C
