    Can I put a 160hp motor in place of a 140hp?

    The application is a 2004 SR230 boat
it has the 140hp twin engines.
One engine just blew up and is not rebuildable.
    I have a 2008 fxho with the 160hp MR1 engine.
The ski has a badly damaged hull so the engine is available.
Does anyone know if I can use this engine as a replacement?
of course I will use all of the boat original bolt on parts.
Yes i do realize there may/will be a power imbalance but I bet it would be minimal.

i don't see why not, using just the short block. use your electronics from the old motor , intake ,injectors, stator , flywheel.

Me personally, I would buy another FXHO and throw both HO motors in the boat and the regular fx motor from the boat in the FXHO hull and then sell it.

    Still looking for an answer.
The boat will be for sale next season so I'm just looking to replace the one engine.

NO DONT DO IT. Synchronized motors place a huge role in the how the machine will preform. That boat is already squirly enough when coming off plane and at idle. Youll also KILL your resale value by doing this swap...put the proper motor in and do it right. Would YOU buy a boat with two different engines...in fact, have you ever seen a boat with two different engines??

I agree... if you are going to sell it in the near future... I would put the identical motor in it.... Why not just rebuild the top end? Is there damage to the lower end ?

Or just do what I suggested and then you will have a twin engine HO jetboat and you will still be able to sell the HO hull with the non ho motor in it
