Grand Bahamas/Abacos Ride
We had a group of 7 jetskis and a chase boat run from Boynton Beach to GB. The ride to West End GB took 6 hours 40 minutes in brutal seas. We took off with a forecast of 1-2' but as it turned out we were halfway in 6-8' confirmed by NOAA after the fact. From West End we still had to continue to our hotel in Lacaya 40 miles away. Total time including customs, refueling, transit to hotel 10+ hours. Next day we just had to rest and work on our equipment. Miraculously not a single ski had a mechanical failure even though a couple of SPOTs were ripped off riders vests, GPSs and VHFs (strapped to the shoulder of our vests) failed.
Two days later to the Abacos (no chase boat)...made the Gulf Stream crossing look easy. Started off on a clear day with good forecast. Thunderstorms developed about half through and heavy seas built but we made it. That day 168 miles in rough seas and thunderstorms. We think we had the first female to ever make this trip do so on her RXP-X.
The weather gods took pity on us. The return trip was on totally smooth water. Crossing from West End to Boynton Beach was just over 2 hours on smooth water. We could have done it faster but the skis would have outrun the chase boat.
Here are the tracks from combines SPOT page. http://ryangottlieb.com/spotmaps/2014JJBahamas/spot.php
Lots of pictures and video. If any groups are interested in making a trip like this we would be glad to offer our advice. We were ready for damn near anything and it worked out to be a great accomplishment.

Like I said we couldn't take pics when in the waves. Even the people on the boat because they were all seasick. Here is the link to a video that is the 1st segment of 3.

Looks like a lot of fun.
I would love to do this trip one day, arranging it from the Pacific Northwest presents a few logistical problems though.

Phenomenal video with awesome editing, well done. My bucket list definitely includes the Bimini trip.
BTW how were the Kawasaki Ultras on gas compared to the other craft with a trip like this?
